Byron Firefighter's Association
The Byron Firefighter’s Association is comprised of active members of the Fire District that are voted in to join the association after a minimum of 6 months on the department. The association also has Honorary Members, who are retired members of the Fire District, that had at least 5 years of service with the district prior to retiring. Throughout the year, the association donates a majority of its funds to the Byron community to support community based projects, organizations, and families in need. Events are held throughout the year to build funds for the association. Such events include a weekend car wash, available by appointment by calling Michele at District Headquarters Monday thru Friday 8am – 4pm (234-4911), the KICK-OFF to SUMMER Carnival, and many more. Our annual Scholarship Golf Playday is held the first weekend in May. This allows us to give up to four graduating Seniors from Byron High School a $1,000 scholarship, if the graduates meet the requirements set forth by the association. Multiple charity events are run throughout the year to support individual charities. Such events include the St. Patty's Day Charity Event for IFSA Burn Camp; Fill the Boot for MDA at the intersection of Blackhawk and Union, and more. Come Christmas time the association teams up with Santa for the yearly Santa visits throughout the community on Christmas Eve. Children get their picture with Santa and get to check out the Christmas fire truck. For more than 40 years now, the association holds the Charter for Cub Scout Pack #147 of Byron. The Association and Cub Scouts have a very strong working relationship and the Association is very proud to be their Charter Representative. The association is a very proactive and community based organization. We take extreme pride in supporting our community anyway possible.
