TRAINING

Firefighter training has always been a priority for members of the Byron Fire Protection District. The Board of Trustees and Administration recognized very early on that training is the key to a safe and effective fire department.

Byron firefighter's train together during multi-company drills a minimum of 20 times per year. Each firefighter receives additional training on shift during single company drills along with technical team training's such as vertical rescue, hazmat, trench, confined space, dive rescue and auto extrication.

Fire companies train in the departments 3 story concrete burn tower and train in acquired buildings whenever possible. Attendance is mandatory at these training sessions for all Byron Firefighters. On average, a Byron firefighter trains 15 to 20 hours per month.
